Community Business Development Corporations
(CBDCs) aim at helping entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs in
Atlantic Canada get the information, advice, and capital they need to
make their businesses succeed.
Farm Improvement and Marketing Cooperatives Loans Act
(FIMCLA) is designed to increase the availability of loans for
improvement and development of farms and the processing, distribution
or marketing of farm products by co-operative associations.
Farm Credit Canada (FCC) is Canada’s largest provider of business and financial services to farms and agribusiness
Canadian Agricultural Income Stabilization
(CAIS) integrates stabilization and disaster protection into a single
program, helping producers protect their farming operations from both
small and large drops in income. This has been replaced by The New
Business Risk Management Suite (AgriInvest and AgriStability) in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
AgriInvest
accounts help producers protect their margin from small declines.
AgriInvest replaces the coverage for margin declines of less than 15%,
previously covered by the Canadian Agricultural Income Stabilization
(CAIS) program
AgriStability
provides payments when your current year program margin falls below 85%
of your reference margin. In the Atlantic region, AgriStability is
delivered in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland and Labrador
by the federal government.
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada
provides information, research, technology, policies and programs for
security of the food system, health of the environment and innovation
for growth.
Canadian Agricultural Skills Service (CASS)
is designed to help farm families increase their income through skills
development and training. The focus may be on either improving the farm
business or preparing for other income options, or both.
