Joe's Juice Co.
“Everybody
in the world should be drinking this juice,” claims Joe Cogswell
enthusiastically, while in the midst of juicing some of his home-grown,
freshly cut wheat grass.
Considered a superfood
by many, wheatgrass juice has become legendary for it’s energy-giving
properties. In Joe Cogswell’s literature about the product, all of its
claims to fame are quite impressive: wheat grass juice is up to
70% chlorophyll – which has a large host of benefits for the blood and
skin as well as teeth and gums; it also contains important enzymes that
both help with digestion and help to slow cellular aging, and it also
contains all of the essential amino acids as it is a complete protein!
Cogswell isn’t joking when he claims that this should be a part of
everyone’s daily diet.
Cogswell has been involved in
the wheat grass juice business since 2000. His operation is small but
efficient – with the use of two small greenhouses that he built
himself; he grows his own wheat grass all year round. He also
produces very rich vermicompost (certified organic) for his soil –
which makes his product especially unique.
When
asked why he decided to become certified organic, Joe explained that
“people who buy organics are health conscious, and they know what this
is about, I decided to become organic to meet the needs of the people
that know and care about the magic of this stuff.”
Joe’s product is currently available through Planet
Organics in Halifax, The Juice bars at Pete's Frutique in
Halifax and Bedford, Chester Organics in Chester, Eos Foods
in Wolfville, and Maria's Health Foods in Coldbrook.
“When
people drink my product and say ‘Holy,do I ever feel good’ – well, it
doesn’t get any better than that for me” says Cogswell, sipping on the
dark green liquid. And with all of the naturally nutritional benefits
that it contains, it’s impossible not to feel good after drinking it!
