PEI Farm Centre
Event postponed due to inclement weather. New date: Tuesday Jan. 22, 2019.
Do you host workshops or meetings on your farm or in your community?
Farmers wear many different hats. Increasingly, farmers are getting involved in events like Open Farm Day, or hosting visitors for workshops and presentations on their farm.
The ACORN Conference also relies heavily on farmer facilitators for their "farmer-to-farmer" conference sessions. These are designed to place farmers in the driver seat - highlighting and honouring that every farmer is both a learner and an expert with insight and knowledge to share.
The PEI COPC and ACORN are proud to be partnering on this facilitation training session to help equip farmers with the knowledge, strategies, and practical tips that will build their capacity to facilitate great conversations, whether at the ACORN Conference, on farm, or in other settings.
This workshop will be led by Steph Hughes, Program Coordinator with ACORN, who holds certificates in Adult Education Design and Art of Hosting, and brings years of professional experience facilitating trainings, meetings, and visioning sessions. The day will include theory and practice covering key concepts and strategies:
▪ The role of a facilitator
▪ Session preparation & framing
▪ Executing a great conversation, including different activities and what they’re good for
▪ Capturing information & evaluating your session
Participants are expected to bring a potluck item for lunch (well labeled for allergies, please!).
This session is offered free of charge to current ACORN or PEI COPC members. Space is limited so register early!
Travel support is available to farmers traveling from outside PEI. To request reimbursement of your bridge fare, contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Limited funding is available; submit your request as soon as possible.
If there is inclement weather, this workshop will be held the following day, Tuesday January 22.
