Wysmykal Farm, 1121 Chapman Settlement Road, Amherst Shore, NS
Wysmykal Farm is one of 7 farms in Atlantic Canada leading innovative on-farm research projects to adapt and improve varieties of our favourite crops, in partnership with USC Canada. This field day will feature a farm tour and talks by farmers Charles and Jessy, as well visiting researcher, Helen Jensen of USC Canada. We'll hear about their on-farm variety trials of orange Nantes-stye storage carrots, how on-farm research is contributing to a national plant breeding program, and why farms are such important innovation hubs for plant breeding. We'll also do a carrot tasting and evaluation! All are welcome to this free event, especially organic and ecological farmers who have an interest in conducting trials and research on their own farms. Please click here to pre-register on our Eventbrite site.
