Please join ACORN, the AAFC Potato Research Centre, and Good Spring Farm for this field day dedicated to the humble tuber. The day will be split into 2 sessions including:
Morning session (10 am - 12:00 pm) will be a tour of the AAFC's facilities and discussion with Dr. Benoit Bizimungu on potato conservation efforts in Canada. Following that, we’ll visit the organic trial established as part of the national Participatory Plant Breeding Program. This program is active in Atlantic Canada with 4 farmer-breeders. Afternoon session (2 pm - 4 pm) will be a farm tour of Good Spring Farm, and discussion with organic farmer Karen Davidge about production topics related to her double-certified seed potato and on-farm trialing projects.
Please note this event will be held rain or shine. Parts of the event will be held outside, so please dress appropriate for the weather. Pre-registration is necessary. Participants are responsible for their own lunch and travel between 12:00 and 2:00 p.m. Travel time between locations is about 30 minutes. You could pack a picnic or enjoy some restaurant fare in Fredericton!
