Conference Board of Canada is hosting a Food Summit conference, in
Toronto. This two day summit features a wide variety of speakers
joining together to discuss Canada’s major food challenges and
opportunities. Most FOODTECH Canada centres will be in attendance,
along with a range of food companies, retailers, senior government and

Seasonal Cooking Class- Winter edition. This class will focus on the
procedure of braising, teaching you how to turn the cheapest cuts of
meat into a wonderful, homey dish. This meal will include a beef braise
as well as a braised cabbage, carrot and onion dish, with applecake for

Organic Forum: Join fellow organic farmers and businesses for your
chance to connect to New Brunswick’s organic community during an
in-depth forum where participants will explore how to collaborate to
meet common goals for marketing and distribution. Levi Lawrence (Real Food Connections)) and Sean Dunbar (Picaroons Traditional Ales)
will be kicking-off the afternoon with an inspiring discussion about
the opportunities literally growing in the NB organic food sector. This
year's NB Organic Forum will focus on marketing and distribution, and
will include an overview of both the NB organic import study (a study
of organic imported products from local retailers that could (should!)

February 24 Dr. Vandana Shiva will attend The Valley Sustainability Showcase at the Wolfville Farmers Market
from 2:30pm-4:30pm. This event brings together vendors from the
Wolfville, Kentville and Windsor markets as well as a showcase
supporting community resiliency and sustainable initiatives currently
active in Nova Scotia. Local politicians, business persons and
educational faculty from Acadia will be present at this exhibition of
the Annapolis Valley’s dynamism. This event is free and open to the

February 24 Dr. Vandana Shiva will attend a fundraising dinner at Tempest Restaurant
(117 Front Street, Wolfville) This dinner is open to the public and
will be a vegetarian 4 course meal with local wine. Host chef is Slow Food Nova Scotia leader Michael Howell. The dinner is $59.95 + HST and will support Navdanya

'The Future of our Food.' This presentation is hosted by the Horton

Organic Gardening Course for Beginners: From the Ground Up. Whether you
are interested in working towards food self-sufficiency or just filling
a small plot of ground with something delicious and nutritious, this
course is for you. Alyson has a degree in Agricultural Sciences and
over 12 year's experience running her own organic veggie farm business
and would love to share the benefit of her experience with any budding
gardener. The course covers site selection, soil preparation and
building fertility; also garden planning, variety selection, pest,
disease and weed management and more. Join us Saturdays March 3, 10, 17
and 24 from 10:00 - 12:30 at the Wedgewood Building in Moncton, NB.
