Truro Farmers' Market
Sera Senakovicz is an artist, plant lover, herbalist, and local food advocate from Cranbrook, British Columbia. She moved out east to attend NSCAD University, graduating with a BFA majoring in fine art in 2009, and has been at home in Nova Scotia ever since. She currently lives and works in Truro, Nova Scotia for the Truro Farmers’ Market as Administrative Assistant, Red Knot Bakery as front of house staff, and pursues her artistic endeavours and gardens in her remaining time. Her interest in local food grew through engagement with the Ecology Action Centre, her ‘East Coast Parents’ Hudson and Janet Shotwell, Market going at the Brewery Market each week, herbal studies with Savayda Jerone, and permaculture workshops with Alex Denicola of Highland Farm. Her passion for local food meant she wanted to use her skills to help support and promote Nova Scotian agriculture and working for the Truro Farmers’ Market has meant a fuller opportunity to do just that. She sees social media as a valuable tool for farmers. markets, and all local entrepreneurs to connect with people they may not be able to otherwise.
