Windy Hill Organic Farm is a certified organic vegetable farm (also some livestock: goats and chickens) located in McKees Mills, NB. We market through CSA, farmer's market and farm-gate sales. Currently 1 full-time and 3 part-time seasonal workers help me on the farm and I need one more person for 24-32 hours/week from May 1 - October 31 for transplanting, weeding, harvesting and other jobs. The Maritimes-Guatemala Breaking the Silence Network (BTS) is excited to offer this agriculture-focused delegation to the Maya Kaqchikel community of San Lucas Tolíman. Participants will learn from BTS partners, the Mesoamerican Permaculture Institute (IMAP) and the Campesino Committee of the Highlands (CCDA), their permaculture practices, Mayan seed-saving in face of threats from corporations such as Monsanto, their approaches to sustainability, and Fair Trade coffee production. This follows up the 2023 Maritimes tour by María Inés Cuj IMAP Coordinator, who met with regenerative farmers and Mi'kmaq community agriculture leaders during her Maritimes tour. We welcome all applicants with a passion for regenerative agriculture, food sovereignty and agroecology.
All applicants must attend the Information Day at Tatamagouche Centre on Friday, October 18th, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cost $34. This day will help you discern whether this is the right program for you. We wil also share information on fundraising and possible sources of funds, as we know the cost is high.
